Course Syllabus
Welcome to Observational Drawing! This is an introductory studio course created to assist students to be more observant and aware of their surroundings. Students will gain a variety of observational and drawing skills.
Course Content:
- Unit 1- Line
- Unit 2-
- Negative and Positive Space
- Unit 3- Perspective and Foreshortening
- Unit 4- Value and Shading
- Unit 5- Color
- Unit 6- Figures and Portraits
Course Requirements and Grading:
- Homework (10%)
- homework is assigned every Monday and due each Friday
- assignments handed in early receive 1 bonus point
- the 9th week of the grading period will be a make up week (one missing assignment may be submitted for full credit, additional missing assignments for 1/2 credit)
- In-class Assignments (20%)
- Worksheets and brainstorm sheets
- Short, one period assignments
- Projects (70%)
- Studio projects will be completed withing each unit presented in class
