Week 6 Homework: Due Friday, February 24th

Week 6: Due Friday, February 24th

Let's try this again:

Free Draw Week- create a drawing of any OBJECT(s).  You still must LOOK at an object to draw from real life (no cell phones and it must be a 3d Object that you can set in front of you while drawing).  You may choose to draw in black and white or in color but MUST add shading (drawings that are not FULLY shaded with a full range of value will NOT receive full credit).  The more detail you include, the more points you will receive.

Value Project #2: Scratch Art

Observational Drawing: Scratch Art
1.     Choose a subject for your Scratch Art drawing.
·        Must have a wide range of value
·        Do NOT choose a simple image, the more details, the better the project
·        Subjects with texture work well for this project
2.     Copy and paste picture into a PowerPoint document
·        If it won’t copy and paste, save the image to the desktop and insert it that way
3.     Double click image and use the top menu bar to adjust the color to greyscale
4.     Ask yourself:
·        Does my image have a FULL range of value?

·        Does my image have enough detail?

2.6.17: Value Viewpoints Project

To begin our first value project, students will choose an object and draw it from 12 different angles in their sketchpads.  These sketches do not need to be shaded or very detailed.  Students will choose the best 9 sketches to use for their final project.

Next, students will create a 9"x 9" box in their sketchpads.  Students will then break that box into 9 even square (3"x 3").

Students will draw one object from 9 different angles and viewpoints.  Be creative with the viewpoints you use for your project.  The viewer should understand what the object would look like from all sides.  You also may play around with how closely you draw the object.

5. Craftsmanship: Paper is not smudged, ripped, or wrinkled.  Proof of care.  1      0

2/3/17: Value In-Class Assignment

After completing 4 value scales using different shading techniques, use those techniques to draw 3D eggs. One egg should use smooth shading, one should use stippling, and the last can incorporate a combination of hatching and cross hatching.

*Make sure to include the shadows beneath the eggs to give the illusion of them sitting on a surface.

Cross Contour Hand Project
Cross contour lines show the dimension of an object.  While drawing cross contour lines, imagine you are showing how the line would travel across the surface of the object you are drawing.  Rounded objects would be depicted using curved lines, but flat objects would be shown with straight lines.

The Week of January 30th- February 3rd focuses on finishing the line unit.
